Heart strings, ukelele strings, vocal chords, and guitar chords. Musician Carlos theChords and poet Jane LeCroy present an evening of poetry and music to make you wonder, dream, think, and groove.
Jane LeCroy is an NYC-based poet, singer, and performance artist. She fronts the avant-pop band, The Icebergs (with Tom Abbs [cello] and David Rogers-Berry [drums]), the experimental music project Ω▽(Ohmslice) with Bradford Reed’s modular synth. Jane has toured with the SF-based all women’s poetry troupe, Sister Spit, and is a regularly featured character at The Poetry Brothel. She is a poet-in-the-schools through Teachers & Writers Collaborative and Uptown Stories in Washington Heights. Her chapbook, NAMES, was published by the art-book house Booklyn in the award-winning ABC chapbook series, purchased by the Library of Congress along with her braid! Three Rooms Press published SIGNATURE PLAY, a multimedia book of lyrical poems.
Carlos theChords is a singer/guitarist from the New York City area. He pens and performs original acoustic/alternative/reggae songs with keen and introspective content. Though Carlos has played numerous shows in NYC, he’s also performed in Barbados, Boston, Atlanta and New Jersey. Lately he’s been exploring the open mic scene in the Upper West Side NYC, performing locally and also the north east region. He recorded and mixed the Carlos theChords singles: “On A Good Boat” and “Happiness” 2016, Transcend the Core’s albums: “3 skulls …relinquish head candy” (2012) and “Live at Bar Matchless” (2012). Video recording, editing, photographic and graphic duties are all passionate extensions of his work in the bands.
