April 1 – Open Mic + Participatory Budgeting

Combine your sense of civic duty with your drive for artistic expression in one magical night on Friday, April 1, 7–10pm, at The Word Up Open Mic: Participatory Budget Voting Edition. At this special open mic—hosted by Jason Rosario of the Washington Heights Music Festival and Lethy Liriano of the Washington Heights Artist Movement (WHAM)—all writers, rappers, musicians, orators, dancers, and artists of all kinds, are invited to perform, while representatives of Council District 10 will have a table set up for Participatory Budgeting, so you can vote on projects improving parks, schools, streets, youth, and housing. Come engage in community art, and have a say in how city resources are allotted—all in one trip! Word Up Community Bookshop, 2113 Amsterdam Ave. @ 165th St. www.wordupbooks.com
