We’re excited to announce a new literary event—Uptown Lit: A Festival of Readers and Writers, on Saturday, October 19th at the United Palace—that is a collaboration among a group of uptown organizations and individuals that have literature, literacy, and storytelling as a vital part of their missions. We hope that we will be able to keep this festival going year after year, and to work with all the others who are doing similar work throughout our uptown neighborhoods.
We hope you will be able to attend on October 19th, when you can meet these amazing authors and artists in person: Congressman Luis Gutiérrez, Rubén Martínez, Nicole Krauss, Julie Otsuka, Quiara Alegría Hudes, Raquel Cepeda, Victor LaValle, Francis Mateo, Richard Rodriguez, Andrew Sullivan, Sussy Santana, Meena Alexander, Eduardo C. Corral, Eric Gamalinda, Rigoberto González, Jesús Papoleto Meléndez, Ted Rall, Seth Tobocman, Sandy Jimenez, Andrea Arroyo, Matthew Dicks, and more. If that’s not enough for you, our master of ceremonies is the one and only Michael Diaz!
More general information can be found on the Uptown Lit website, www.uptownlit.com. Please check out the online schedule for general programming, family programming, and workshops, including those part of the NoMAA Technical Assistance Institute.
