What are your neighbors up to?—Find out at Open Mics at Word Up!

For the past several weeks, Word Up has hosted Open Mics Nights on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6pm. At first, the Wednesday night sessions tended toward the literary, and the Friday nights tended toward the musical, but really, after a while, who needs to differentiate? You can rock the mic in any way you want on either night–dress up, dress down, strut your stuff, and show us what you’ve been working on in your corner of the Heights. Beyond-Uptowners are welcome too! Show us what you’ve got!

Word Up: A Community Bookshop Highlights, This is Just the beginning

For those of you who haven’t been able to make it to the bookshop yet, and especially for those who HAVE and want to relive the energy within, check out our new video by DjBoy below.

Putt Up at Word Up: TODAY & TOMORROW, 12-4pm

During Friday's Works-in-Progress Day, a Big Red Lighthouse and a tiny multi-level GWB were erected near the nonfiction books at Word Up.

Astroturf in a bookshop?! Well, this ain’t just any bookshop. Putt Up at Word Up is a mini-golf extravaganza, with local artists and kids designing each hole. All proceeds will go toward covering operational expenses for Word Up.

Watch out for the sand hazard!

Music, commentary, and audience reactions will be recorded and webcast live both days on Washington Heights Free Radio.
